Relationship Between Leadership Style to Work Motivation

Process briefly leadership is often said to be a way to achieve goals through other people . Other people here can be defined as those individuals or groups of people . However, because of the crowd consists of individuals with varying needs , special tips needed to arrange for the needs , desires , and interests are manifold can be accommodated so that the resulting impulse or motivation to work independently achieve personal and group goals .


In the process of leadership , motivation is something that is essential in leadership , because lead is motivating . A leader must work together with other people or subordinates , it is necessary for the ability to motivate subordinates . According Wahjosumidjo (1984 ) , leadership has a close connection with motivation , because the success of a leader in mobilizing others in achieving the goals set relies heavily on authority , and also the leader in creating motivation within each person subordinates , colleagues and tops the leader himself ( p. 197 ) .
A leader motivates followers through a particular leadership style that will result in the achievement of group goals and individual goals . Followers are motivated to work toward that goal and then voluntarily yield satisfaction . Satisfaction lead to the achievement of the objectives of behavior that is repeated to achieve the goal or fulfill a need in the future .
Theory of Leadership TraitsThe theory assumes the nature of leadership can not be born and not made ​​. Leadership consists of character and inherited trait . The character and nature that distinguishes a person as a leader .
Gheselli quoted by Manning and Curtis (2005 ) identify the nature of effective leadership :
1 . Need for achievementA leader must be responsible and work hard to succeed .
2 . IntellegenceLeaders must have judgment , reason , and good thinking .
3 . decisivenessA leader must be able to make decisions without hesitation .

Manning and Curtis further stated that the ten qualities that should be possessed by a leader to help in the process of leadership :
1 . visionThe main requirement of being a leader is to have good vision . The vision to inspire others and cause a leader to do its job .
2 . abilityA leader must have a good grasp over the job .Employees usually show patience to a new leader , but they will lose their trust in a leader who failed in his duties
3 . enthusiasmThe hallmark of a good leader is to have a strong enthusiasm .The enthusiasm shown an enthusiastic response to his leader .
4 . stabilityA leader must have the professionalism , the company distinguishes problems with personal problems .
5 . Understanding Each OtherA leader should not be degrading or treat their subordinates like machines . A leader must understand the welfare of subordinates . Understanding of others requires patience and a willingness to listen to the problems of his subordinates .
6 . ConfidenceIf a leader lacks confidence , the employee would question his authority , even ignoring the command .
7 . perseveranceA leader has the determination and persistence to solve a difficult problem .
8 . vitalityA leader must have the strength and stamina are excellent in performing his duties as a leader .
9 . charismaA leader must have charisma is the ability to attract the attention of employees and make them follow it .
10 . integrityThe most important requirement of a leader is integrity , namely : honesty , strong character , and courage . Without integrity then there is no trust. Confidence leads to a sense of respect , loyalty , and action .
